Our boards start with the selection of the balsa that comes from family owned farms out of Ecuador. Each tree is harvested to a minimum maturity of 3 to 5 years. After harvesting new seedlings are replanted, following stringent guidelines to ensure the preservation of our raw material. From here, our selection is further inspected to ensure that only the best balsa wood is incorporated into our surfboards. This guarantees the highest quality chamber blanks are built with absolutely NO PITH, knots, holes and/or discoloration that is indicative of fungus infection and decay of core. After our final selection has been made, the balsawood goes to the ovens, where the balsa is kiln dried to extract all the excess water. Once the moisture content is around 10%, our expert craftesmen handbuild hollow surfboard blanks using our customized method. We can confidently say, no other surfboard is built like ours. After the chamber blanks have been carefully constructed, they are again inspected. Any blanks that do not pass our strict quality control tests are set aside and the balsa is recycled for other uses. At this point, a team of expert shapers led by master craftsman Christian finishes each surfboard to it best suited shape.
